-
✺
3 MINOR RULES
No aero bars / TT bikes.
Have to ride at least 10 miles in your attempt. Don’t just go for the crown!
* Outer Perimeter CW can only be attacked before 7:30 AM. DO NOT DISRESPECT THE PARK OR THE PARK’S VISITORS.

✺
1 FINAL DETAIL
You have to follow the BIKE PCB Strava group. Why? (1) Because you support a company trying to grow cycling culture and (2) so others can see your attack and try to defend their crown(s).
✺ FAQs / Logistics / Fine Print ✺

No E-Bikes.
No aero bars / TT bikes.
No drafting cars / motorcycles.
Must ride at least 10 miles in your attempt.
To be named King of the Bay or Queen of the Bay, you must hold all 5 specified Strava segments at the same time to win.
Yes, people will attack your segment(s) to knock you off your pedestal. This is encouraged.
No, you don’t need to take all five crowns in the same ride.
You can only win once (both road and gravel). Maybe in the future we’ll change this rule; but, for now, the goal is to enhance cycling culture locally and not bankrupt Bike PCB.
Bike PCB / B3ars’ reserves the right to cancel, end, and/or revise this challenge at any time. This last sentence is to cover our asses in case a rider does something stupid, we forgot to protect ourselves from liability, etc.
Be safe,
Have fun, and
Beware of B3ars!

We all have a stretch of road (or gravel) where we like to put the pedal down. These 5 / 10 segments are either some of my (Ryan, founder of Bike PCB / B3ars) favorite stretches to hammer in Panama City / Beach and the surrounding area, or spots I think are safe for this challenge.
If you know me, then you know I rarely attempt a KOM - that’s not really how I ride. To each their own!
However, I thought this 5 Crown 👑 Challenge could be a fun way to grow my business and further help cultivate cycling in Bay County. Shout-out to Hammer Down Multisport, PC Cycling, Ironclad Endurance, and others also creating community.

Happy you asked!
These segments…
Are (mostly) safe [e.g., Gails Wails is out b/c the terminus is dangerous],
Possibly technical (Section 3; although trail maintenance needs to calm tf down before we need to rename it Paved Log State Park),
Are right turns (safe-ish and thus you can also maintain some speed),
Require you to be a Florida all-arounder (sprint and mid-distance segments / flattest state in the country), and/or
Something a professional rider could accomplish in one ride / weekend / week in Panama City Beach.
-
We’re advocates for women’s cycling; So, we’re offering Queen of the Mountain (QOM) 👸 / Queen of the Bay (County) awards too!
If this challenge is popular, we’ll look into adding more categories (e.g., non-binary, single speed, age group, etc.).
Thank you for your understanding as we … well … make this shit up.

Our jerseys are legit! Because of this - they’re expensive and custom. This is a long-winded way of saying we may not have a jersey in-stock that fits you at the time you obtain your 5 crowns. However, we’ll work with you to pick the jersey you want, size it, and order it.
Expect 1 to 2 months delivery. We’ll try to keep some size large jerseys in-store on display.
Click Here, Here, or visit our Instagram to see our jerseys in action.

So you want to attack a KOM / QOM with your friends leading you out?
‘It would be a lot cooler if you didn’t’; But, rubbin’s racing, so go for it.
-
Yes, one of the requirements to claim a crown in this challenge is that your ride must be at least 10 miles.
You can immediately earn a segment title, pause, catch your breath, and then ride the remaining 9.75 miles in a circle, obnoxiously slow. You can ride 9.75 miles in a circle obnoxiously slow to warm-up, pause, and then earn the segment title. We don’t care, just make sure your ride is at least 10 miles.
Why 10 miles? Because we value riding bikes. The gamification of health and exercise that Strava affords has it’s benefits (e.g., motivation, goal-setting, etc.); But, ultimately riding a bike is what’s most important.
-
Why the 7:30 AM Outer Perimeter CW requirement? The Conservation Park is awesome. To keep it that way, we require the Outer Perimeter CW segment be attacked before 7:30 AM for three reasons:
To respect the park.
This is the closest gravel to the beach, let’s respect that and protect it.
To respect the people in the park.
Nobody wants a bike screaming by them; thus, mornings should reduce this possibility.
To up the segment’s difficulty.
Morning attempts mean you face tougher conditions (e.g., wet corners, uncharted lines, etc.).
If you encounter pedestrians or tough conditions, be respectful, slow up, and enjoy your ride.
